Oneshot as a starter is a game developted in the remake version of RPG Maker 2003. It was made by Eliza Velasquez and Nightmargin. It was originally made for a game contest back in 2014, however the developers behind the scenes decided to make a remake and a Steam version of it (like many RPG game creators do) and this version in general became more known!
Niko from Oneshot, is the protagonist of the story. They have a very impactful story and amazing story arc whom touched the heart of many.
Their story begins with waking up in an unknown dark cottage. You as the player are left to guide Niko throughout their way out of the house, and you manage to by finding a light bulb that guides you and Niko out. Right after, Niko sees themselves in the Barrens, which is a dark place with many corrupted robots in. You manage to escape with them by the help of the Computer (whom is apparently a system that knows everything about you, like in real life!) Then you step across the Glems, which i dont really remember much of, however there Niko is met with two bird human siblings and sheep who sing and help you through the story and some of the guests! The Refuge is mostly the last location before your final choice for this game and before the actual spoilers. You there are met with an elevator and some purple-haired human who also needs the elevator. In order to activate and progress to the Tower, you simply need to do some puzzles and as usual use the help of the Computer in the game for hints. At some park Niko even eats pancakes, which is their favourite food their mom made! Therefore, Niko many times will feel homesick for their mom and get dreams.
The reason they are so great is because the way they react to this unknown world is very creative and very close to us- the player. In contrast, though, Niko's role is to get guided by us. Even so, Niko is a great company and feels very real especially with the way the game break the fourth wall and makes you stunned. And well, I just think their design and personality is adorable!
